Guided implant surgery has opened up the third dimension in both the appraisal of bone volume and density but with these new techniques it’s important to understand conventional wisdom and teaching in the placement approach. With new technology also comes poorly understood errors or difficulties that the debate will show you how to avoid.

Impressions – Standard or Scan

Here the lecturers debate the positives and shortcomings of traditional impression techniques using open / closed tray versus the use of scan bodies to pick up the 3D virtual position of an implant. The common errors of scan body usage will be discussed and tips given on how to avoid them.
