The Latest Concepts in Mucogingival Grafting with Dr Matthew Garnett


Course Description

This practical course aims to enhance your knowledge of mucogingival surgical techniques, whilst also developing your periodontal surgical skills. Appropriate theory with clinical relevance will be covered and experience will be gained particularly with the use of AlloDerm grafts during the hands on exercises with pig’s heads.

Learning objectives

  • increased knowledge of the classification and aetiology of mucogingival problems
  • an understanding of importance of a thorough clinical assessment
  • increased knowledge on microsurgical principles and techniques
  • increased knowledge on grafting techniques with particular emphasis on AlloDerm
  • improved surgical skills in suturing, soft tissue handling and grafting techniques

Dr. Matthew Garnett

Dr. Matthew Garnett is a specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthodontics. He has a wealth of training, knowledge and experience in treating complex dental problems. Dr. Garnett graduated from Birmingham University in 1997 with Cclinical Distinction. After 2 years in General Practice he realised that Restorative Dentistry was the area of specialism that he wanted to embark upon. He completed his further advanced specialist training in 2008 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow. He went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle University and graduated with Honours in 2003. He is a member of the Restorative Dentistry UK Consultant and Specialist Group (RD-UK), the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), and the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI).
